The nomad visa: an opportunity for employment and economic revitalization
Xavier Montesdeoca
The Nomad Visa is a migratory category of Temporary Residence – Rentista Modality established in the Organic Law of Human Mobility and its Regulations.
An initiative promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility together with the Ministry of Tourism, with a view to generating economic reactivation, as well as offering a migratory category to foreign beneficiaries who need to visit Ecuador to work remotely according to their professional activity.
In a globalized world where physical borders are becoming more and more improbable, the need for Ecuador to adapt to a worldwide trend of remote workers is becoming a mandatory aspect, even considering that this modality during and after the Pandemic became more and more necessary and indispensable in the different industries.
The nomadic or remote work visa is applicable to 183 nationalities, according to the list published by the Ministry of Tourism. (Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QHb1kyQp_36aqWQgg-DjerlvCNiMATGB/view)
